School anxiety often emerges in elementary students and, although it is readily treatable through therapy that includes both the child and parents, it can significantly disrupt family life. Should your child resist going to school, struggle during drop-off, or plead to stay home, they may be experiencing school anxiety. When school drop-offs lead to tears and leave you departing with a distressed child, consider reaching out to schedule an appointment.
Relationship anxiety can feel like an emotional rollercoaster, where the fear of losing your partner or being abandoned is always looming. If you often find yourself worrying about your partner’s feelings, doubting their love, or needing constant reassurance, you might be experiencing relationship anxiety linked to anxious attachment.
You might feel a persistent need to hear your partner say, "I love you," or ask if everything is okay between you. Even small changes in their behavior, like a delayed text response, can trigger anxiety and make you worry that something is wrong. This need for constant reassurance can make it hard to relax and enjoy the relationship.
Every argument or disagreement might feel like the end of the relationship. You might fear that your partner will leave you, even if there’s no real evidence to support that fear. This can lead to overthinking, clinging, or trying to control the relationship to prevent any possibility of abandonment.
People with relationship anxiety often analyze every word or action their partner takes, searching for signs of trouble. You might replay conversations in your head, wondering if you said or did something wrong. This overanalysis can make you feel on edge and worried, even when things are actually going well.
Relationship anxiety can strain your connection with your partner, leading to misunderstandings, frustration, and even pushing them away, despite your best efforts to keep them close. The constant worry can overshadow the positive aspects of your relationship, making it hard to feel secure and loved.
How I Help
I do not work directly with couples; however, I am passionate about assisting individuals who are dealing with anxiety in their relationships. While the couple might be pursuing other relationship goals with a couple's counselor, I focus on addressing the anxiety through individual therapy. During our sessions, you will learn to recognize the triggers of your insecurity and discover strategies to manage them effectively.
